Double wave satin: the precious characteristics of protein fiber
Double wave satin is essentially a fabric carefully woven from natural protein fiber - silk or similar materials. This fiber structure gives it unparalleled softness, breathability and natural luster. However, the sensitivity of protein fiber is also one of its characteristics that cannot be ignored, especially its strong reaction to alkaline substances. Alkaline environment will destroy the protein chain, causing the fabric to harden, lose luster, and even accelerate the aging process. Therefore, understanding and following the correct washing method is crucial to maintaining the original quality of double wave satin.
Choose neutral detergent: treat it gently and protect the luster
Facing the delicateness of double wave satin, choosing the right detergent is the first step. Common laundry detergents and soaps on the market often contain high alkaline components, which is a fatal threat to double wave satin. In contrast, neutral detergents, such as Silk Wool Cleaner designed for silk and wool fabrics, or detergents specially developed for silk fabrics, can effectively reduce damage to protein fibers because of their pH value close to human skin. These detergents not only remove dirt gently, but also protect the luster and texture of the fabric to a certain extent, making them an ideal choice for maintaining double wave satin.
Temperature control: a smart balance between cold and warm water
In addition to the choice of detergent, the water temperature during washing should not be ignored. Cold water or warm water (not exceeding 45°C) is the best choice for washing double wave satin. Cold water can maintain the original color of the fabric and avoid fading caused by high temperature; while warm water helps the detergent to work better and prevents the fabric from shrinking or deforming due to rapid temperature changes. Before washing, gently soak the clothes in water for about 5 to 10 minutes, which helps deep cleaning, but it should be noted that the soaking time should not be too long to prevent the fabric from excessively absorbing water and causing structural loosening.
Washing details: meticulous and perfect
During the washing process, gentle hand washing or using a laundry bag is the key to protecting double wave satin from mechanical damage. Avoid using the high-speed spin function of the washing machine to prevent the fabric from entanglement and pulling, causing irreversible damage. After washing, it also needs to be treated gently, gently squeeze to remove excess water, and avoid wringing or pulling. Lay flat to dry in a cool and ventilated place, avoiding direct sunlight, which can further maintain the color and shape of the fabric.
